A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by French engineering and operations company Groupe ADP and Abu Dhabi Airports to enable the futuristic project. The two parties decided to investigate the potential of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), a cutting-edge idea in aviation that uses electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to transport passengers and cargo.
Groupe ADP and Abu Dhabi Airports have agreed to collaborate throughout the planning and development phase as well as during the operation of the ground infrastructure for AAM in Abu Dhabi. The industry roadmap will be created after conducting a feasibility study and market analysis.
According to engineer Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, managing director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, “this new system integrates flight technologies with transformational aircraft designs that use electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically, enabling sustainability in air transport for both passengers and cargo.”
This agreement “testifies to our commitment to lead the way by working with our partners to deliver innovation and technology that drives efficiency, convenience, and most importantly, sustainability,” the company said. Philippe Martinet, managing director of Groupe ADP Airport Services, and Al Dhaheri recently signed a strategic partnership agreement at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022.
We are pleased to join forces with Abu Dhabi Airports to develop the AAM roadmap and hasten the construction of Abu Dhabi’s essential infrastructure. We will assist Abu Dhabi Airports in laying the foundation for AAM service implementation in Abu Dhabi thanks to our practical experience in the Paris region today and our in-depth knowledge of the sector, its infrastructure, and operational challenges, said Martinet.
We have a long history of collaborating closely with our partners, and we are eager to help Abu Dhabi Airports with their long-term strategy for innovation and sustainability.
