In conjunction with the 16th annual Dubai International Food Safety Conference, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center, the Dubai Municipality unveiled the “A Million Voices for Food” initiative under the theme “I pledge to food safety.”
The initiative aims to raise general awareness of the Municipality’s goals for food safety, particularly public benefit services, which are consistent with its strategic goals to provide the highest standards of health and safety in the food sector, further enhancing community members’ safety and well-being in Dubai.
The campaign will go on until the million votes for food target is met.
The votes were started by Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, and Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment.
In order to ensure increased awareness of food safety behaviors at home, during food preparation, shopping, and preservation, the “Million Voices for Food” initiative focuses on introducing Dubai Municipality’s services in food safety that are provided to the food sector and consumers. The initiative emphasizes the Municipality’s critical function in ensuring the security of Dubai’s targeted food, educational, and healthcare institutions.
Additionally, the Municipality is dedicated to lowering food-borne illnesses like food poisoning while taking on the duty of upholding food safety in food businesses.
The initiative aims to raise public awareness of and ensure food safety by educating the public on safe and healthy food preparation and preservation practices and by enlisting the help of young people in promoting safe food practices in both businesses and homes.
