Along with many other services RTA provides you with this facility that enables you to renew the driving license, vehicle registration, learner’s permit, parking card and ownership of a vehicle registered in Dubai.

RTA Driving License Renewal
This service enables you to apple for renewing driving license. So before discussing any other renewal process, it’s important to be aware of the eligibility criteria to get a driving licence in Dubai.
Eligibility
- Residents aged 21 years and above are eligible for a driving licence in Dubai.
- Residents younger than 21 years can apply for a probationary driving licence. You can apply for a driving test, six months after you get the first-time learner permit.

Note: The fine for the delay in renewing the driving licence for less than 10 years is 10 AED per month, with a maximum of 500 AED. If it was expired for more than 10 years, the customer is only allowed to renew it after passing the road test.

Website
The RTA official website offers an easy and comprehensive to use tool for online Dubai licence renewal. Either to apply for a new licence or renew a previous one just follow these steps:
- Go to the RTA official website and browse through The Driver and Car Owner Services tab > click Driving License Service > Upload required documents > Pay Fees/ fines if applicable.
- The applicant has to undergo a mandatory eye test at one of the eye test centres
- You will receive a temporary driver’s licence that you can print for use until the original licence is ready
- The temporary licence is valid for 5 to 15 working days
- Receive your driver’s licence from Happiness Centres at Al Barsha or Deira
- You can also get your new licence delivered by paying AED 25 in additional shipping charges.

The RTA ‘Dubai Drive App’ offers a convenient way to renew your driver’s licence. The app is available for both Android and iOS.
CALL CENTRE
Apply for renewal of driver’s licence from the official RTA Call Centre. Here are the different steps involved through call centre:

- Provide the agent with your RTA driver’s licence number
- Pay the fees or fines with a credit card
- Receive a temporary licence through email

There are numerous driving licence renewal centres in Dubai. Some of these centres have eye testing facility as well. All you need to do is visit any eye test centre and get your eyes tested. RTA Car Mulkiya renewal
Mulkiya is an old vehicle registration card (Mulkiya) from the seller. The course of Car Mulkiya renewal is very simple. There are several car insurances companies which provide this service. Get your vehicle tested at the any test centres first and have all your dues cleared to the authorities.

PROCESS
1- Get Car Insurance
Once you have the required documents, purchase the insurance online from any insurance company which provide the services for renewal. There is also a facility for taking car insurance in advance. The car insurance companies can set the date according to your requirement. You can get the quotations from the car insurance companies and according to your requirements.
If your vehicle registration expires you get a grace period of 30 days from the date expiry. The grace period is issued to maintenance work for the vehicle. Moreover, it is illegal to drive with expired insurance. If you are caught then you will be penalised hefty fines minimum AED 500. There will be four black points added to the violator and the vehicle will be impounded for 7 days.
2- Prepare your Car
Now prepare your car for the test. Wash it clean your car and put all safety equipped tools. Check the air pressure of tyres and make sure that it is accurate.
3- Pay all pending penalties
Motor insurance is valid for twelve months. You have to pay all your pending fines before applying for Mulkiya renewal. Make sure you clear all your penalties in case if you have any black points or blocked fines. The black points can be paid only at the vehicle registration centres.
4- Car Testing
For first two years there is no need for car testing, if your car is new. But if your vehicle is older than three years you have to get the car tested at the testing centre. For this, you can visit RTA vehicle testing centres or Tasjeel Centre.
The car inspector will inspect your car at the testing bay. You have to show your emirates id and driving licence and to pay the testing fee of AED 170. It approximately takes 20 to 40 minutes to complete the test and the test is valid for 30 days. If the test fails then the owner must get all the required repairs and pass the test again.
Once you have completed the car test and have all documents ready then you can go renewal through the online or in person.

- Register on the app.

RTA’s Seasonal parking card
The RTA has introduced virtual parking cards which will replace the physical cards, by being certain that the payment is updated on the centralised system. This service by RTA enables you to obtain seasonal cards for light vehicles to use public parking in Dubai according to the code applied to the plate without having to settle the fees every time you use parking.

RTA Learner’s permit Renewal
This service enables you to apply for renewal of your driving learner’s permit within Dubai. You can renew your learners driving permit by visiting any driving institute in Dubai. There are at least 18 driving institutes from where you can renew your learner’s permit. To apply you will need to submit your expiring / expired learning permit. You may also renew your permit through the mobile application.
