For the second consecutive year, the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has been dubbed the “world’s largest book fair” in terms of the purchasing and selling of copyrights.
His Majesty The historic statement was made during the opening ceremony of the 41st edition of the annual book show on Tuesday at Expo Centre Sharjah, which was attended by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, made the announcement and claimed that the accomplishment conveys to the globe the emirate’s message of promoting intercultural conversation and communication via literature.
958 tables were put up for the matchmaking meetings at the three-day SIBF Publishers Conference, which featured 1,041 publishers and literary agencies.
The SIBF 2022 edition will take place from November 2–13 at Expo Centre Sharjah with the theme “Spread the Word,” and it will feature more than 1.5 million books and 2,213 publishers from 95 different countries. The 12-day cultural feast will be led by over 100 writers and thinkers from 57 different nations.
