Mr. President, Your Highness Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, has received a phone call from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulating him on the 30th anniversary of the start of diplomatic ties between the two friendly countries.
Sheikh Mohamed spoke with Zelensky on the phone earlier this week. The necessity of de-escalation and lowering tensions through communication and diplomatic solutions were discussed during the call between the two parties as well as developments in the Ukraine issue.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized that the UAE will make every effort to stop the crisis from getting worse and to provide an environment that would be favorable to dialogue and de-escalation for the sake of all parties. High Highness Mohamed has emphasized the need to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations.
Tuesday, the President issued an executive order directing the distribution of additional humanitarian aid totaling $100 million to Ukrainian residents afflicted by the situation in their country.
Sheikh Mohamed’s belief in the value of unity and strength during times of war and conflict, as well as the UAE’s ongoing efforts to lessen the humanitarian burden of the Ukraine crisis and the campaign for peace, are the driving forces for the increased contribution.
