Saint Petersburg- President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates spoke with President Vladimir Putin of Russia about the ongoing war in Ukraine. Moreover, they emphasized on importance of maintaining a line of communication between Russia and Ukraine.
Sheikh Mohamed received a thorough briefing from President Putin on the circumstances at the Zaporozhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Russia’s measures to uphold nuclear security. Sheikh Mohamed stated that the UAE is still keeping an eye on the situation at the plant.
The two presidents highlighted the continuous rapid expansion seen across the UAE-Russia relations and their satisfaction with such growth.
Sheikh Mohamed briefed the Russain President on the position of the Ukrainian side in a number of matters. Putin emphasized that Russia is eager for the UAE’s mediation efforts to continue. According to WAM, the UAE’s foreign ministry stated at the time that the visit was intended to assist in finding “effective political solutions” to the Ukrainian problem.
While President Putin reiterated that Russia is eager for the continuation of the UAE’s mediation efforts. President Putin expressed gratitude on behalf of his country for the UAE’s efforts in supporting mediation efforts. He specifically praised the UAE’s crucial involvement in the prisoner swaps that took place between Russia and Ukraine.
The UAE President also stressed the necessity to maintain the lines of communication between Russia and Ukraine open. The trip to Russia by Sheikh Mohamed was announced on Monday. At the time, the visit was planned mainly to talk over effective political solutions, according to the UAE’s foreign ministry.
