Of late, there has been a novel trend observed with car buyers not just in the UAE, but worldwide. With the global pandemonium pulverising the manufacturing of new cars, the used cars in the UAE have had their value go northwards as people have conceded to purchasing those. While purchasing a new car can get exhaustive, one vantage point is that purchasing a ‘pre-owned’ or a ‘certified pre-owned’ vehicle can be a greater operose as there will be a dainty variety from several makes, including those that bid sayonara, discontinued and new models, and colossal body style options to choose from, for every budget.

However, this also implies that a buyer can be sanguine about purchasing his dream car for an enticing value bargain as he can pen down his priorities. Cars are no longer mere commuting machines, but hi-tech gismos that cosset one to relish a relatively relaxed routine. Hence, features have become the foremost consideration behind a purchase. Here is a generalised continuum of convenience and safety features that should be ideally present in any used car in Dubai.

  • Convenience Features
  1. Climate Control

With the weather getting uncanny and temperatures surging, it is essential for every used car in the UAE to feature not just AC vents with fan speed modes, but also temperature controls for at least the driver and the co-passenger so that they can cruise in an unruffled manner with optimum cabin temperature that enhances comfort.

  • Steering-mounted controls

It is almost an entrenchment to drive at scants speeds in excess of 120 km/h in Dubai. In the yesteryears, a lot of accidents occurred worldwide when drivers had to glance at something else to change functions like the FM radio station or the AC fan speed, etc. Later, these were prevented when manufacturers started offering controls on the steering wheel for basic functions like answering calls, altering music volume, changing the station, settings of the car, etc. Nowadays, some cars also allow changing the gait using the adaptive cruise control function mounted on a key making driving a breeze. Since these features have now become the barebones requirements, these should definitely be present in the car.

  • Reverse-parking camera with front and back sensors

A requisite in every car and specifically in a bulbous SUV and lengthy sedans like Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry, it is momentous for the car to incorporate a reverse-parking camera with front and back sensors for effortless parking in tight spaces. Having adaptive guidelines that show the direction of the car while reversing, is a nifty feature.

  • Rear AC vents

To cater to the people juggling with the scorching hot environs such as Dubai, automakers are now offering rear AC vents even in entry-level cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Accent and the Kia Cerato. While it wouldn’t make the cabin hostile for the rear occupants if the car is a compact sedan or a hatchback, it is a MUST have for SUVs in the UAE, specially the seven-seater utility vehicles. While it might be slightly difficult, it would be recommended to search for a car that has pillar or roof-mounted AC vents.

  • Safety features
  1. Dual airbags

While most contemporary cars today come studded with dual airbags as standard, it might be that the used car in the UAE that you’re gaping at might not have it as safety regulations were never as stringent as they have become. So it is always beneficial to check whether ‘AIRBAG’ is written on the steering wheel and the extreme opposite side of the steering. It’s a daily grind for cars on sale in UAE to propel over 100 km/h exacerbating the conundrum of a collision. Hence, having dual airbags in the used car can come handy in such situations.

  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

Cars tend to lose traction over slippery and loose sections of road such as gravel, sand or mud ruts. Certain roads resemble slalom where it would be difficult for a car to maintain its composure. In all such circumstances, feature called Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is worthy of admiration as it helps the car from going askew thereby, saving the driver from a fatal accident. While you browse through an overwhelming list of cars for sale in UAE, it is for your advantage being cognizant of the above mentioned features along with those that clinch the deal for you and make the car a tempting proposition.
