This extra lesson would help to avoid traffic jams and save drivers time.

Authorities in Dubai have discussed introducing a mechanism to teach new drivers about reporting minor traffic accidents on the police app. The Dubai Police app includes a feature for reporting accidents without the need for a patrol to arrive at the scene and assess the damage.

This was revealed at a meeting between Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to discuss traffic safety and ways to improve it.

When there is a minor accident (one that does not result in casualties), the drivers are required to move the vehicle to the shoulder area. They can use the Dubai Police app’s’simple accident report’ feature. They can upload photos of the damage, as well as their licence numbers, and request a report, which will then be sent to the insurance companies involved for claims processing.

Top police and RTA officials discussed how this will help prevent traffic jams and save drivers time.

The commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police, Lieutenant-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, and Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the RTA’s Board of Executive Directors, discussed stepping up joint efforts to improve road security and safety.

During the first nine months of 2022, the two entities seized 2,550 bicycles that violated traffic rules in a joint campaign.

The number of people using bikes and e-scooters has increased dramatically as a result of Dubai’s “bicycle-friendly city project.” By the end of the year, the total length of dedicated tracks will have increased from 185km to 390km. The RTA recently announced that the bikes will be available in 11 new districts beginning in 2023.

Al Tawar 1, Al Tawar 2, Umm Suqeim 3, Al Garhoud, Muhaisnah 3, Umm Hurair 1, Al Safa 2, Al Barsha South 2, Al Barsha 3, Al Quoz 4, and Nad Al Sheba 1 are the new areas.
