In order to raise students’ and educators’ environmental knowledge and awareness, a digital platform for environmental education has been introduced in Abu Dhabi.
The e-Green platform was introduced on Wednesday by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).
Launched with the goal of developing a top e-learning tool, it is the first collaborative e-learning platform in the Middle East specifically devoted to the environmental sector.
The e-Green application, which is open to all users and is free to use, intends to raise environmental consciousness with an emphasis on Abu Dhabi’s environment and preservation.
Eight learning pathways are now accessible to schools. The first subject is the BP-sponsored Sustainable Schools Initiative (SSI), an initiative run by the EAD that encourages schools to adopt more ecologically friendly practices. There are 153 participating schools in Abu Dhabi, where it was first introduced in 2009. There are six learning pathways for the SSI theme, including Eco-clubs, Green Audit, Outdoor Education, Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced.
The courses were created using the top international standards for creating e-learning content, and they were optimized to provide the greatest possible user experience. Experts from EAD, the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), Emirates Nature – WWF, AZRAQ, and other significant figures in the field are responsible for teaching the courses.
“e-Green is a cutting-edge e-learning platform, developed with the purpose of becoming the preeminent global reference for environmental e-learning,” stated Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, secretary-general of EAD. Currently, we are focusing on schools, but in the future, top colleges, business organizations from around the world, and environmental institutions will be able to create their own content and upload it to the platform.
