In Dubai, purchasing a car is rather simple, but one must be aware of the tight rules and regulations to prevent traffic tickets. The Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) takes seriously its responsibility to enforce traffic laws and also they have issued a Dubai traffic fines list. Additionally, breaching driving laws is not tolerated in Dubai.

You must keep in mind all the regulations you shouldn’t violate while driving in Dubai in order to avoid paying these fines. Let’s begin with a brief summary of the various traffic fines that may be issued in Dubai and the possible black points that may be associated with those fines.

TRAFFIC FINES LIST IN DUBAI

Let’s go over Dubai’s numerous traffic fines.

Following are examples of driving offenses that result in fines and “black points” on your record:

DUBAI’S BLACK POINTS SYSTEM

The black point system enables Dubai’s law enforcement to keep track of your driving infractions. Dubai has placed cameras and radars to record traffic infractions. Depending on the severity of the infraction, Dubai Police may add black points to your traffic file if you violate certain defined laws while driving. Depending on how serious the offense is, a variable amount of points is applied to it. For each point added, you’ll get an SMS message. On the Dubai Police website, you may see what black points you currently have.

The traffic police have the complete right to suspend your driver’s license and forbid you from operating a vehicle for a full year if you accrue more than 24 black points. Vehicles may also be seized in specific situations, depending on the seriousness of the offenses you have on file.

Traffic fines in Dubai for speeding

  • AED 3,000 in fines, 23 extra points on your driving record, and possibly license suspension for 60 days are all possible outcomes of exceeding the designated speed limit by more than 80 km/h.
  • If you exceed the posted speed limit by more than 60 km/h, you’ll be subject to an AED 3,000 fine, 12 black points, and 30 days of vehicle impoundment.
  • If you go over the speed limit by less than 60 km/h, you’ll be fined AED 1500, have 6 black points on your license and have your car impounded for 15 days.

The following are examples of speeding-related traffic fines without black points

  • Driving more than the designated speed limit by less than 50 km/h. AED 1000 in fines are imposed as a result.
  • A fine of AED 700 is assessed for exceeding the maximum speed limit by less than 40 km/h over the designated speed limit.
  • AED 600 is the penalty for exceeding the maximum speed limit by less than 30 km/h over the specified speed limit.
  • Getting fined AED 300 for exceeding the speed limit by less than 20 km/h is the result of breaking the rule.

OVERTAKING AND WRONG PARKING TRAFFIC FINES

The list of overtaking and improper parking fines in Dubai is as follows:

  • AED 1,000 in fines and 6 black points are assessed for parking in front of fire hydrants.
  • Parking in spots designated for hard workers will result in a $1,000 fine and six black points.
  • Suddenly stopping in the middle of the road without a good reason will result in an AED 1000 fine and 6 black points.
  • 500 AED fine for stopping your car at the yellow box intersection
  • If you stop your car on a public road’s left shoulder, you’ll be fined AED 1000.
  • 500 AED fine for stopping a vehicle at a pedestrian crossing
  • Parking behind cars and obstructing traffic is punishable by a 500 AED fine.
  • If you stop your automobile on a curve, junction, or turn without maintaining the legal distance, you’ll be fined AED 500.
  • Parking violation: 500 AED fine
  • Parking on the sidewalk can result in a 400 AED fine.
  • Putting your car in a risky stopping position for pedestrians could result in an AED 400 fine.
  • AED 400 penalties for stopping a vehicle such that pedestrian traffic is impeded
  • The penalty for improper overtaking while operating a light vehicle is AED 600 and six black points.
  • Overtaking from the road shoulder will result in a $1,000 fine and six black points.
  • AED 600 punishment for overtaking from a location that is not permitted

The set of laws and guidelines governing traffic fines do more than merely protect the city’s roadways and motor vehicles. Actually, maintaining everyone’s safety in the city is the main goal of these strict regulations. Drivers in Dubai should always maintain a reasonable attitude and behavior when it comes to traffic fines.

IN DUBAI, HOW DO I PAY TRAFFIC FINES?

Traffic fines may be paid in a series of interest-free installments. Banks like Noor Bank, which provides its credit cards with a 0% installment plan facility, are another option for payment. Furthermore, if the fine amount is at least AED 500, you may pay monthly installments over 3, 6, 9, or 12 months. Vehicle owners can also visit the centers set up to collect traffic penalties or pay their fines using the Dubai Police app or website.

You can also pay fines in person at the service centers for vehicles and driver’s licenses.
